Can you recycle sunglasses?
Call recycle centres and ask if they will take them.
I was thinking putting phone screen protectors on our sunglass lenses to stop them getting scratched so they never need to be recycled/thrown out unless broken beyond repair.
These screen protectors are plastic so that's bad but I think is better than putting many sunglasses into landfill unless they can be recycled then....
I don't know if I would go to the hassle of looking in op shops for protectors, trying to cut out a lens shape and stick it on right if I can just take the few or many scratched and broken sunglasses to the recycle centre. I can stock pile where I stock pile batteries to take to battery world. I think i'd be saving more plastic by not using the screen protectors than using them because hopefully the sunglasses can re recycled where as the screen protectors probably cannot. They are not hard plastic and are not scrunch-able and they are sticky. I would probably try to remove the stickiness and put in either the hard or scrunch able recycle bins after taking them off the sunglasses before taking to the recycle centre..... I just think if I drop and scratch them thats it they are stuffed and I need to go buy another pair which is a pain BUT if I buy quality sunnies and ask if they will replace the lenses that stops the problem of buying another pair and taking scratched ones to the recycle centre.
I guess I wouldn't bother putting screen protectors on if I made sure I bought lenses that could be replaced and if they broke then stockpile and take to recycle centre.
I saw 2 at mtn op shop and I gave one to beenleigh op shop before coming up with the idea.
